The Basque Country also known as Euskadi in northern Spain has a high index of industrialization. It is a region where you'll find more than a dozen natural parks, parks, reserves and small paradises where you can enjoy nature at it's finest and rich ecosystems. It also has Biosphere Reserves. Álava, Guipúzcoa and Vizcaya are the three Basque provinces in which you'll find diverse scenery. Starting with Vizcaya, there is the Urkiola Natural Park, a paradise for rock climbing fanatics and hiking. Also in Vizcaya, there is the Monte Gorbea Natural park, located at the foothils of the Basque Mountain, an ideal for mountain lovers.
The Urdabai Natural Park is another place to visit. Not in vain, it is distinguished as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1984.
There are also the dense forests of the Izki Park, the Valderejo Natural Park, its small ravines and waterfalls, and thick vegetation, the colony of vultures in the Sierra de Entzia, the Pico de Aitzgori, the swamps of la Guardia.... all of these are places that nature, fauna and flora, and absolute tranquility can be found.
Around most of these natural spaces, there are rural hotels and rural houses to rent for a holiday stay surrounded by nature in the Basque Country. |
