The Basque Country also known as Euskadi in northern Spain, or Euskal Herria is a region in the Iberian Penninsula that has a population of more than 2 million inhabitants. It's official languages are castilian and Euskera and it has a surface area of 7000kms2.

The Basque country is a magical place, where you can enjoy fantastic beaches like Sopelana and Zarautz; culture and architecture as found in the Guggenheim Museum; and charming, beautiful cities like San Sebastian. This region of Spain borders Cantabria, Navarra, Castilla Leon, La Rioja and France, and has a coastline on the Cantabrian Sea.

Euskadi, as the Basque country is called in its native language, is composed of 3 provinces; Vizcaya, Álava and Guipúzcoa, the capital cities of which are respectively Bilbao, Vitoria (which also capital of the region) and San Sebastian. In these cities, as well as in the important surrounding towns like Zarautz, Bermeo, Portugalete, Guetxo, and Lekeitio you will find a great range of accommodation options for your holiday in the Basque country. Hotels, hostels, apartments, and rural houses known as “baserri”, in cities and in places of natural beauty like Monte Gorbea or the Biosphere Reserva of Urdabai. The region has a variable climate, depending on the zone. For example the coastline tends to have an Atlantic climate, whereas inland it is usually damp. In general the temperatures throughout Euskadi are temperate all year round, although this is one of the rainiest parts of the Spanish peninsular.
